Hello Again

Man I’ve been a blog-slacker the past couple of weeks. My apologies for that, seriously! Although it may seem cliche on my blog to read the words, I’ve been busy, I swear it’s true! Where did I leave off..

Oh yes, Valentines weekend! Well you know how Valentines Day is supposed to be a day filled with fairies and cupids and flowers and etcetera - all that miscellaneous-rosy-pink-colored stuff? Wait there are Valentines fairies? Did he just say that? Anyways.. There weren’t necessarily any fairies that I could see on Valentines Day, but man was Valentines freaking awesome. (What an adjective, “freaking awesome”). My trip to see Sheida started out with a dead car battery. What a great surprise! It was actually only a microscopic inconvenience in relation to the whole weekend in Athens. We went to a movie on Friday night called, Friday The 13th. All I’m going to say about that is, I don’t really want to go camping for the next year or two.

On Saturday, Valentines Day, Sheida and I woke up to get my car a new battery. Just the thing that I had planned for Sheida on Valentines Day! My car was jump started by one of Sheida’s, well now also my, friend at UGA and then Sheida I headed to Sears. Around two hours later, my car had a brand new Sears Gold Die-Hard battery and was ready to roll! Sheida and I went to the Georgia-Florida basketball game, the ultimate southern college rival, and saw the Bulldogs get their first SEC win of the year! It was a great defeat of the Gators.

On Saturday night we went out to eat at The Transmetropolitan in downtown Athens and had a whale, if you will, of a pizza. I mean, this was the Arnold Schwarzenegger of pizzas! Gigantic, mother of all bread, sauce and cheese! After dinner Sheida and I had a freaking awesome Valentines night and walked around the campus and Athens.

On Sunday, we went to have our usual Waffle House breakfast, where unfortunately Sheida and everyone in the restaurant had to give me their syrup because we all know that Waffle House waffles just aren’t as good unless they are drenched with syrup. Man, I could go for one now. On Sunday afternoon, ironically enough, the Winthrop Eagles softball team was in town at the UGA Red and Black Softball Invitational. Winthrop was supposed to take on UGA at 2 o’clock on Sunday afternoon, but when we got to the stadium, Winthrop was already on the field and in the seventh inning against Cleveland State. We watched the remainder of the game and saw Winthrop lose by a run in extra-innings. It looked like UGA was still playing after, but we figured it was against another team in the tournament since Winthrop had just finished their game. Little did we know that after we left, Winthrop continued into their “double-header” and actually played UGA.. but they were smoked 8-0 by the 20th ranked Bulldogs. It’s probably best that I didn’t get to see that. No offense to my school, of course, but I probably would not have heard the end of how UGA beat Winthrop 8-0 after I persistently smacked talked against Georgia softball the whole weekend.. yea..

I left Athens super late on Sunday night and got back to Winthrop around 11:30. It always stinks coming back to the ‘Throp and transitioning back into busy-mode.

After a freaking awesome weekend, I got back into things with class and soccer. I finally had my bone scan scheduled. It took over a week for it to be finalized! Let’s just say that it’s getting really frustrating since I haven’t played soccer for two weeks straight since before August of last year. Wow that’s a long time.

Here’s the synopsis of the bone scan, it’s actually a cool procedure. First, the whole reason for a bone scan is so a doctor can see more details about your bone that are hidden from just a plain x-ray. On Wednesday, I have to be at the hospital in Charlotte around 9:30 for my radioactive tracer injection. This injection has to be done three hours before my actual bone scan, in order for the tracer to circulate throughout my body. Three hours later I have my actual scan, which, based on the research I’ve done, will take twenty to thirty minutes. A bone scan is pretty much the reciprocal of an x-ray… meaning that unlike an x-ray, where the image of your bone is taken from the outside looking in, a bone scan takes an image of your bone from the inside looking out, via the radioactive tracers. Pretty cool right? This inside-looking out approach gives a much more detailed and complicated look at the specific bone that is scanned. The image can explain the cause of unexplained bone pain that is not visible on an x-ray, which is perfect for my situation. Hopefully after this little procedure, my doctor can figure out what is exactly wrong with my foot and the screw! l’ll keep you updated on the blog for sure.

That’s basically what I’ve been up to the past week or so. Pretty exciting, pretty chill, pretty freaking awesome. Sorry if that adjective is starting to bug you, I feel like it has been way overused in this post. But hey, any adjective that’s just so freaking awesome should be overused, that’s just common sense. My Mac’s battery is at 6% now.. that’s probably God pointing to my Calculus homework right next to me and telling me what I should be doing right now! Priorities, priorities!

Have a nice Friday everyone, might I add that Winthrop Baseball opens up their season tomorrow night by hosting The University of Michigan. Should be a good one, home-openers are always exciting.

Oh yea, I saw this dude play at Wesley last night after we had dinner, he was ridiculously good.
