Last Day of 2008
Wow, pretty powerful title right? I mean it is the last day of two-thousand-and-eight. I decided to “start off my ending” to the year by recording a little acoustic version of a song by Death Cab For Cutie. I uploaded the song to the blog, you can listen to it in the post below this one. I’ve been playing a lot of music over the break, but really have nothing to show for it except three calluses and blood blister, who knew music was such a violent thing? If the post below this one doesn’t play the song correctly on your comp, you can always go to my purevolume site and listen to it there.
This break has been totally chill, and totally awesome. I’ve enjoyed every second of it. The family, the friends, its all awesome. And may I add a shout out to my mamaw for giving me some of the coolest Quiksilver shoes ever for Christmas, I think I’ve worn them every day since I got them.
I reached my half way point last weekend.. now I have less than two weeks left until I go back to the ‘throp. I guess I’m getting ready though, ready to get back into the routine and ready to actually play some SOCCER! For crying out loud, that’s why I chose Winthrop after all. I barely got a taste of my main part of life last semester, only getting to train with the team for the last week of the season. Hopefully my body heals up nice and quickly before we start training January 17th.
Speaking of training, I went on my first run since I had surgery. I traveled out to the Jones Bridge Park, which sits right on the Chattahoochee River. My trainer told me that after a serious injury, an athlete is supposed to progress his training by ten percent every week, in other words, very slowly. I went out on a limb today, not even knowing if I’m supposed to be running yet, which was very stupid of me actually. But my doctor said that I should just “listen” to my body when I’m getting back in to running and stuff, and if it doesn’t hurt me, I’m probably alright to do it. So I ran about a mile and a half to two miles today, but at a very slow pace. I jogged around the park, whose trails weren’t as nice as described on the internet.. but I’m feeling pretty sore tonight, my legs feet like jello. But it’s a good start! I’m thinking I might do some running tomorrow, but on a cooler trail.. hmm.
Anyways.. I was in the mood to post something tonight. I hope everyone has a great start to 2009! Tomorrow will be a nice day indeed, as everyone brings in the new year together.
