Fall Break
The semester is officially at its halfway point. Fall break is Friday-Monday here at the ‘Throp.. but most of the athletes, at least those on the soccer teams and the volleyball team, have to stay here for the break. It’s not too bad, we don’t have any classes, so we get a break academically. And luckily, I get to join my team on the longest road trip of the year on Saturday, to Virginia to play Radford in a big conference match. Winning this game would put us at 4-0 in the conference, in first place, and in control of our own destiny to winning the regular season conference championship. I can’t wait to film that one on Saturday afternoon.
As I look back on my first half semester of college, I get a really good feeling. Although my experience could be totally different if I hadn’t broken my foot the first week and gone through all of that.. it has still been great. I’ve really enjoyed Winthrop so far. I can only imagine how great it will be when I actually get back on the field again, and play college soccer. The spring season will be a lot of fun. Specifically, games against Furman and UNC-Greensboro in the spring are already starting to get me pumped up.
Speaking of spring… I’ve been planning out my schedule for next semester. My new major’s requirements have a lot of similar required courses as the biology major, but exercise science is set up so the student can choose what to take, in order to fill his requirements for what his plan is for the future.. if that makes any sense. In my case, I want to a pursue a career in physical therapy. Physical therapy graduate programs require A LOT of sciences such as biology, chemistry, and physics.. so with my exercise science major.. I can choose electives in these sciences that go towards my major, rather than taking biology and having to take all biology classes. Basically, I get to choose what interests me.. which is awesome. My schedule for next semester is a little packed, 17 hours total: Chemistry, calculus, history, writing and sociology. I’m going to have to be up for a challenge, that’s for sure.
Also.. here’s a random fact for the day.. with our win on Wednesday night against Brevard, we move to 9-3 on the year, putting us tied with UNC-Chapel Hill at #10 in nation in win-loss percentage/overall record.. just thought that was cool.
