Since I’ve Been 19

Well, hello again! It’s been a week or so since I’ve posted, and oh my word, have lots happened indeed. Let’s see here… My 19th birthday was a twisted totally turned around day that ended in such a perfect way! My foot started hurting the first day of official preseason with the coaches, the next night on Sunday, I only lasted half of the training session because my foot pain was so intense.. oh brother here we go again right? Well I sat out practice for two days without any improvement in my foot at all. On the morning of the 19th (my 19th birthday) I was in the training room early before practice as usual before practice and my athletic trainer told me that I really need to see my surgeon in Atlanta to figure out why my foot was once again hurting and not positively progressing. I immediately contacted my mom and she set up an appointment for me at 2:30 in Atlanta, perfect! Thanks Mom :).

I left right at the start of training and met my mom at the Sports Medicine practice that I had been in last March for screw removal stuff. After some xrays and such, my surgeon came in and said, “severe tendonitis.” Great. However, he replied, “a couple of shots will do the trick.” Even better! Two shots on my extremely sore and tender foot on the afternoon of my 19th birthday! He then injected two cortisone+mepridine+some other calming agent shots into the outside of my foot, one at the top near my pinky, and the other near the bottom below my ankle ball. It was still pretty sore after the quick and simple procedure, but the surgeon said I should see results by the morning.. and if so, I could actually play in our home-opener the next night!

Well as I was getting my procedure, my Sheida was headed back from UGA with her parents.. what a coincidence right? A perfect planned coincidence!! Sheida met my parents and I at this little restaurant right near our houses for a wonderful birthday dinner. A perfect birthday it was, I couldn’t have imagined it any better. After dinner, we all headed back to the house for publix birthday cake that my mom and I had gotten after the doctors and found exactly 19 birthday candles in the kitchen drawer, so lucky! We watched the Braves and chilled out and I got to be with my lady and my family on the night of my birthday. So so sweet. The next morning I picked up Sheida and we headed to UGA and made her 11 o’clock class, Food Nutrition, and I got to go too! It was an awesome and interesting lecture, I’m so glad I got to go with Sheida.

I headed back to the Throp for my seven o’clock game against Wofford. I played the last 30 minutes of the game without any pain!! The injections were a miracle drug combo indeed! I had played my first college soccer match.

Anywho, that was my 19th birthday that turned out perfect! Since then we’ve had one other game, last Sunday against UNC-Wilmington. Interesting fact about that one, I was picked to start right mid!!! I got my first start in college and it was so stellar. I played about 70 minutes of the game and was so so exhausted but had a great time.

I started classes this week on Tuesday. I’ve got a pretty tough schedule this semester, with all my soccer and studies it’s gonna be super busy. Here are my classes: Calculus II, Physics with Calculus, Chemistry II, Intro to Gerontology. It’s gonna be tricky!

Tomorrow we host Davidson at seven under the lights. It’s gonna be a good one for sure. Sheida is driving up tomorrow afternoon to make the game and then is staying with me for the entire weekend! I’m freaking pumped, so freaking pumped!

I hope everyone has had  a nice week! Talk to you soon.
