Writing 101
Japanese architecture. I’ve been reading an essay (more like a novel) by Junichiro Tanizaki for the past 2 hours. I’ve got to say, it wasn’t that bad. Although the essay was published sometime in the early 1900’s, I could still relate. He discussed every aspect of Japanese architecture, from the roofs, to the bathrooms, to the shadows..toilets..heat..lacquerware..to the...

When it rains in Rock Hill
Water. I’m sick of water. It was raining literally the entire day today… making me late to my first class, braking my phone, getting my air-cast uncomfortably soaking wet, and making me miserably cold in every class. I have some serious bad luck since my foot broke. It just keeps on coming. Not to sound pessimistic or anything, I’m just stating the facts. My car was parked in an...

Finally
My dorm has been without internet for the past four days. Its amazing how “cut off from the world” I feel just by not having internet. Our society has really become dependent on technology. Ok anyways.. its been a pretty crazy few days with everyone moving in and stuff. The campus has totally changed looks as now it is completely packed with students. Its nice that everyone is here and...

Eighteen
Finally, I’m 18. Legal. It doesn’t feel that much different to tell the truth. Everyone else I’ve been around has been 18 for a while, so now I’m just caught up to them. I guess now I can go out and buy lottery tickets, cigarettes, get into clubs, and whatever else comes with being 18. I’m sure I’ll take advantage of every single one of those privileges, not....

Recovery
I’m on the road to recovery, and its going to be a long two or so months. I still have to sleep in this huge boot, and the pain medicine doesn’t really have a nice effect. It’s supposed to take the pain away and make you really drowsy… but it just makes me really loopy and dizzy. I’ll stick to three advils every four hours. Sleeping has been tough the past two nights...

Surgery
I had my first surgery ever today. Wow, what a surprising breeze that was. I feel stupid for being so nervous, because really, it went so well. Stripped down into the hospital gown, checked my vitals, got an IV and moved into the OR. The anesthesiologist gave me a mask to breathe into. I remember taking about 4 breaths and then I woke up in the recovery room. It was surreal, I had a screw put...

The Break
The last two weeks have been a bit of a crazy ride for me. I’ve had a lot of new experiences. Some were expected, however, some were not. Let me elaborate. It’s been my dream for a while to play Division One NCAA soccer. I finalized those plans last year when I accepted a scholarship to play for Winthrop University in Rock Hill, SC. It is such an honor to be able to call myself a...

Stellar and Stoked | Origin
This blog originally started by a means to pass the time while I healed my broken foot. The first-ever post, titled The Break tells that story. In a nutshell, I signed with Winthrop University, trained all summer to get ready for my freshman year of college soccer, broke my foot the first week of preseason camp at Winthrop, and then had to get season ending surgery. I used the blog to vent about...

About StellarAndStoked and Myself
I’m Jacob. I’m from Atlanta and am a student at the University of Georgia. After two injury prone seasons, including three surgeries, as a soccer player at Winthrop University, I decided to transfer back to my home state and continue my studies and undergraduate journey at UGA. I love life, college, and everything within.
I’m a student, aspiring doctor of medicine, former...
