This Semester Needs to End Already
So many things to do, so little time. It seems like I have due date after due date, rehab after rehab, it’s never ending. As much as I want the semester to end already, I don’t want to college to pass by so quickly. I want to enjoy my years here, but all of this work causes frustration and my lack of patience can’t handle it. I haven’t found that optimal system yet, one...

Asheville
I had a pretty good weekend, nothing too exciting. Just finishing up some studying here at the throp. Things could have gone better yesterday though, as our seven game winning streak, and any chance of our regional or national ranking going up, was haulted. I’m not one to make excuses, what happened happened. But our 1-0 loss to UNC Asheville on Saturday was due to many things. Number one,...

Chillier by the Day
It’s 49 degrees in Rock Hill right now, with a windchill of 46. It’s supposed to drop to around 40 tonight, I love it. The only thing I’m not liking about these continuing Fall days is the decreasing day light each day. The sun’s starting to set a little bit earlier each night.. it’s depressing. But the days are nice.. I love the leaves and the coldness, especially on...

Going with the Flow
Everyone here has been getting sick for the past month. I thought I would bypass this by taking vitamin c everyday, and that plan has been working until now. I have been a little congested the past couple days, but nothing like last night or today. I hate this feeling of being sick.. hopefully it’s just a little cold and will pass soon. I just don’t want to get as sick as some people...

Radford, Virginia
The drive from Winthrop to Radford takes about three and a half hours. You drive through a state and a half, weaving in and out of the Appalachian Mountains. What a sight. The fall colors of the trees and nature are amazing. At point, I was staring out the window for at least thirty minutes straight; the bus was up on a ridge looking down at a valley, overlooking some small Virginia town, red and...

Fall Break
The semester is officially at its halfway point. Fall break is Friday-Monday here at the ‘Throp.. but most of the athletes, at least those on the soccer teams and the volleyball team, have to stay here for the break. It’s not too bad, we don’t have any classes, so we get a break academically. And luckily, I get to join my team on the longest road trip of the year on Saturday, to...

Early Night
It’s going to be an early night tonight. My room mate and I are exhausted. I’m in bed right now about to fall asleep, college has caught up with me. Things are going well though, both with soccer and academics.  On the soccer side of things, I’m running every day now, along with my rehab. I get to wear cleats at practice and do some ball work. Each day I progress a little more....

Game Day
Kick off is scheduled for two o’clock this afternoon against VMI at Eagle Field. We are currently 7-3 (2-0 in the conference), while VMI has yet to win a game and is 0-9 for the season. We can’t take them lightly though, any conference match is bound to be a tough one. 70 degrees with a cloudless sky, what a great day for some college soccer. Hopefully at the end of the day we’ll...

In the Clear
I had an appointment with Winthrop’s orthopedic surgeon today, the doctor who did my surgery. After looking at my foot, he told me that I was cleared to start running. This was good and bad news. Good in that I’m well on my way to being back in college-soccer form, but bad in that running means more work.  Today at practice my athletic trainer had me run a couple of laps, then some...

Deadlines
I just finished my second attempt at my graphic design project. The projects were due last Thursday.. at least everyone thought they were. We walked into class and put them up on the wall for critiquing, after about five minutes of some harsh criticism, my professor asked, “who thinks they could do a better job?” Of course everyone raised their hands, and he decided to push the due...

Athens
After practice on Friday afternoon, I headed southwest for three and a half hours, to Athens, Ga. Home of the bulldogs.. and my best friends. With no practice on Saturday, this had to happen. It was probably the only break I will get the entire semester, except for Thanksgiving. College soccer consumes lives, even those who are injured.  I’ve always been a fan of the University of Georgia...

Late Night
I have my first graphic design project due tomorrow. The other things I’ve been assigned are just assignments, projects are worth a lot more. This makes me pretty nervous because I haven’t been doing too well on the assignments. My professor is all about this concept called perfection. For four and a half hours tonight I’ve been sitting in the back lobby of my dorm working on my...
